With the age advancing, here is a tendency of the skin in the face and neck regions to droop. Nowadays, this has not to be tolerated any more. The surgical techniques for correction of these problems have developed and are now very sparing and with low risks.

Before surgery
With our method, there is no need to shave your hairs. To achieve a better wound healing, it would be reasonable not to smoke one week before the operation. You should also not take any blood-diluting medicaments like Aspirin.

Operation
Before the local anesthesia is applied the surgeon will accurately draw the course of the incisions with special consideration to the natural creases of the facial skin. By lifting the subcutaneous tissue (SMAS) as well, the result will last longer and tension is taken off the skin. This vastly reduces the formation of scars and the appearance of the face is more natural (no 'parachute'- face or mask). The incisions are made in a way that the scars will be nearly invisible.

Special Instruments
For the less traumatic procedure and optimal aesthetic result of the facelift surgery, Dr. Solz invented a special instrument. It is sold worldwide by Medicon the company for special instruments for plastic surgery in Germany. The facelift scissors acc. to Dr. Solz are a help to achieve a natural results, less bleeding and more safety during surgery.

Anaesthesia
In most cases a facelift (facelifting) is performed under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis. It is also possible to do it under general anaesthesia or under sedation.

Duration of stay in the clinic
It is reasonable to stay in the clinic for about four days. Thus it is possible to head for your home without bandages and with freshly washed and dressed hair.

After the procedure
To avoid swelling of the face it is advisable to elevate the head while lying for about 3 days.
The hair will be washed after 4 days. A local disinfectant spray can be applied easily by the patient herself.
The sutures will be removed after 10-14 days.
