MANNHEIMER KLINIK FÜR PLASTISCHE CHIRURGIE

Minilift

Facelifting

Nowadays, other than in former times, the tendency is to correct individual contours earlier in order to retain a natural and dynamic look.

Operation
Before the local anesthesia is administered the surgeon will accurately draw the course of the incisions with special consideration to the natural creases of the facial skin. As in the 'big' facelift it is sensible to do a duplication of the subcutaneous tissue (SMAS) as well. Not only will the result last longer but the tension will be taken off the skin, the formation of scars is vastly reduced and the appearance is more natural (no 'parachute'- face or mask).

Special Instruments
For the less traumatic procedure and optimal aesthetic result of the minilifts in facial surgery, Dr. Solz invented a special instrument. It is sold worldwide by Medicon the company for special instruments for plastic surgery in Germany. The facelift scissors acc. to Dr. Solz are a help to achieve a natural results, less bleeding and more safety during surgery.

Anesthesia
In most cases a Minilift is performed under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis. It is also possible to do it under general anesthesia or under sedation.

Duration of stay in the clinic
It is not necessary to stay in the clinic for 2 to 3 days but most patients prefer it to an ambulatory procedure. Thus it is possible to head for your home without bandages and with freshly washed and dressed hair.
It is almost a 'painfree' procedure and swelling is very limited and in most cases much less than in eyelid surgery.

After the procedure
To avoid swelling of the face it is advisable to elevate the head while lying for about 3 days.
The hair will be washed after 2 days. A local disinfectant spray can be applied easily by the patient herself.
The sutures will be removed after 10-14 days.
