Abdominoplasty

Indication
Laxity of the abdominal wall after pregnancies or weight loss.
Excess of abdominal skin and fatty tissue, protrusion into pubic region.
Overstretching of the muscles of the abdominal wall after pegnancies or
hernias.
Scarring (aesthetical and/or functionally disturbing) between navel and
pubic region after operations or Caesarean section.
Operation
Lax and excessive skin between navel and pubic hair will be removed (excised),
as well as stretch marks or scars, if present. Additionally, the muscles
of the abdominal wall are reinforced through sutures and thus greatly
help in shaping the loin and stomach. Finally, the remaining skin is straightened
and sutured and the navel is placed in its new and correct position.
Special Instruments
The optimal position of the umbilicus is very important for the aesthetic result of the abdominoplasty. For this purpose Dr. Solz invented a special instrument. It is sold worldwide by Medicon the company for special instruments for plastic surgery. It is the Navel Marker from Solz. Another important instrument is the Saldanha-Solz retractor. This special retractor was invented by Dr. Saldanha, the publisher of the lipoabdominoplasty with Dr. Solz to give more safety and better results in this original technique.
Anaesthesia
General anaesthesia is recommended.
Duration
of stay in the clinic
To properly recover and regenerate we recommend a clinical sojourn of
4 days which most patients find very comfortable.
After
the procedure
To aid healing of the wounds, which is best without tension, the legs
should often be moderately flexed and the upper body kept in an elevated
position. A compression corselette should be worn for 4 to 6 week and
physical exercise should be avoided for the same period of time.
